The Lune Estuary
Cafe d'Lune sits directly beside the Lune Estuary Multi-User Path leading from Glasson Dock into Lancaster. The track is flat hard packed surface allowing use by cyclists, horse-riders, wheelchair users and walkers. It follows the River Lune up to the Quayside in Lancaster from where futher off road routes can be accessed on towards Halton and Caton and going over the Milennium Bridge, Morecambe and Heysham.
The secenery is some of the best in Lancashire providing spectacular views over towards Overton and Sunderland Point with the Lake District Fells distant on the clearer days.
Twice daily tidal waters replenish the adjacent mud flats with nutrients attracting a wide range of waders, ducks, swans, herons and egrets with the proximity to Morecambe Bay and the coast proving a route for many migrating flocks.
NEW FOR 2015
A new cycle route all the way from Glasson Dock to Barrow in Furness opens in June 2015. The Bay Cycle Way (NCN700) will link lots of existing route with new sections of quiet road to form a co complete route right around Morecambe Bay. More and updated information
